BTS’s official Merry Go Round music video has been posted on YouTube. The posting date is September 25, 2026. The channel is BANGTANTV. This date refers to the YouTube posting, which is separate from the earlier Spotify release.
The release timeline below is based on the YouTube posting record for September 25, 2026.
Release date and official channel
The official video was posted on BANGTANTV. Its title includes Official MV. It is separate content from the audio track page with the same title.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Artist | BTS, Bangtan Sonyeondan |
| Song | Merry Go Round |
| Album | ARIRANG |
| Album track release date | March 20, 2026 |
| Official MV YouTube posting date | September 25, 2026 |
| YouTube channel | BANGTANTV |
| Official video title | BTS (방탄소년단) ‘Merry Go Round’ Official MV |
| Another official source | BTS Media on Weverse |
The full video is available on BANGTANTV’s official video page. BTS Media on Weverse also has an item with the same title. The audio track’s release date appears in the Apple Music song information.
The difference between the earlier release and the YouTube posting
The September YouTube posting does not mark the song’s first release. The audio track was released on March 20, 2026. Some users also said they had watched the video on Spotify earlier.
A fan post sharing the YouTube release includes a discussion about the difference between platforms. Some users said they had already watched the video on Spotify. Those are reactions from the time, not an official reason for the delay in posting. The discussion is available in the r/bangtan post.
| Category | Meaning | What it should not be confused with |
|---|---|---|
| Audio track release | The song is released on an album or streaming service | It cannot be assumed to be the same date as the music video posting |
| Spotify video release | The music video is made available on Spotify | It does not mean the video was posted on YouTube at the same time |
| YouTube posting | The official MV is posted on BANGTANTV | It does not establish a new release date for the song |
| Behind-the-scenes release | A separate video shows the filming process | It is a different record from the release of the official MV itself |
The YouTube posting alone does not establish that a new edit was released. Any editing differences between the videos on the two platforms require a separate comparison. No official basis has been confirmed for attributing the gap between releases to an exclusivity agreement or an upload mistake.
About the work
This song appears on BTS’s ARIRANG. The English title refers to a carousel. The opening lines of the published lyrics express the narrator’s wish to escape pain. Information about the song and its contributors is available on the Apple Music song page.
The music video is the main video for experiencing the song with visuals. The filming process is available separately as MV Behind the Scenes. Despite their similar titles, the two pieces of content serve different viewing purposes.
What to watch and listen for
One point of interest is how the audio and visuals work together. What the lyrics say directly can be distinguished from interpretations of the scenes. The behind-the-scenes video is supplementary content showing the production process.
- Lyrics: Read along to see what the narrator wants to escape.
- Instruments: The official audio credits list contributions on guitar, bass, and synthesizer.
- Production: After watching the main video, the behind-the-scenes video offers a separate look at the filming process.
The instrument credits appear in the Apple Music credits. The BANGTANTV behind-the-scenes video was posted on June 21, 2026. Fan interpretations of the scenes’ symbolism should be distinguished from explanations by the production team.
Comparing official viewing options
The main YouTube video is the Official MV on BANGTANTV. An item with the same title is available under BTS Media on Weverse. Spotify provides separate information about the conditions for using its music video feature.
| Platform | Content to look for | Access conditions and what to check |
|---|---|---|
| BANGTANTV on YouTube | Full Official MV | Check the uploader and full title |
| BTS Media on Weverse | Official MV item | Check the page’s playback instructions |
| BTS page on Spotify | Available music video | Check Premium requirements and whether the video is available |
| BANGTANTV behind-the-scenes video | MV Behind the Scenes | A video of the filming process, not the main video |
Spotify Support lists eligibility as follows.
Eligible: Premium
Spotify Support, “Music videos on Spotify”
This wording appears in Spotify’s official help article. Availability by country and the playback screen for your account should also be checked. Subscription fees vary by country and plan, so no single price is given here.
To find the main video on YouTube:
- Open the official BANGTANTV video page.
- Check the song title and the Official MV label.
- Check that the uploader is BANGTANTV.
- Play the main video and, if needed, check the subtitle menu.
How to distinguish the audio and video release records
When recording a release date, include the type of content beside it. The same song has a separate audio release date and video posting date. Including the platform name makes clear what the date refers to.
| What to record | Appropriate wording | Wording to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| ARIRANG album track | Audio release date: March 20, 2026 | Labeling the video posting date as the audio release date |
| Main video on BANGTANTV | YouTube posting date: September 25, 2026 | Leaving out the platform and labeling it the first release date of the work as a whole |
| Filming behind the scenes | Behind-the-scenes posting date: June 21, 2026 | Treating the date before the main video’s posting as an error |
In particular, different videos should not be combined into one record based on dates alone. Keeping the official title, posting channel, and video URL together is more accurate. If the release time in Korea Standard Time is needed, check an official announcement that specifies the time zone.
Distinguishing other music with the same title
The title alone does not identify BTS’s work. Jung Yup and Bolbbalgan4 also have albums with the same name. The music from Howl’s Moving Castle is a separate work with “of Life” in its title.
| Artist | Work | How to distinguish it |
|---|---|---|
| BTS | Merry Go Round | A track on ARIRANG and its related official MV |
| Jung Yup | Merry Go Round | Album released on May 15, 2015 |
| Bolbbalgan4 | Merry Go Round | EP that includes Snowball, among other tracks |
| Joe Hisaishi | Merry-Go-Round of Life | Music associated with Howl’s Moving Castle |
Jung Yup’s release information appears on the Apple Music album page. Bolbbalgan4’s EP can be distinguished in the Apple Music list of top songs. The film music can be found in Joe Hisaishi’s official video.
