Everyday Money & Tax, a guide from daily money problems to tax planning and inheritance

Money problems usually cost people not because the rules are secret but because nobody says where to look. Here we work through everyday money questions and the tax rules behind them, case by case.

We cover practical ground - exchanging damaged banknotes, reading the small print, deposits and loans, card benefits and spending - alongside year-end tax settlement and deductions, inheritance and gift tax, business succession relief, property taxes, and how the self-employed and creators file.

Rules change every year, and not noticing is itself a cost. We set out what changed, when it takes effect, and what that means you should be doing this year, with the deadlines attached.
